Case Study: Timing Audit for a Critical Network
Case Study
Timing Audit for a Critical Network – From uncertainty to timing confidence.
Helping a telecoms provider understand timing risk across its network
A UK telecoms provider was reviewing parts of its network infrastructure and wanted to understand whether its existing timing and synchronisation setup was still fit for purpose.
The organisation had multiple sites using a mix of timing equipment, some of which had been in place for several years. While the network was still operating, the customer had limited visibility of where potential timing risks could appear, especially around ageing hardware, GNSS dependency, monitoring gaps and future resilience requirements.
edgeTime carried out a practical timing audit across the customer’s telecoms environment. This included reviewing the current timing architecture, synchronisation sources, equipment status, network dependencies and potential single points of failure.
Following the audit, edgeTime provided a clear summary of the current setup, the areas that needed attention and a prioritised improvement plan. This helped the customer understand what needed replacing, what could be improved and where additional resilience could be introduced.
